January 2019 - Moments and Highlights

january moments and highlights

Ah January, you were beautiful but you droned on a bit didn’t you? January was supposed to be a bit of a non month for me to be honest. I’m totally over the idea that you need to overhaul your entire life in the first month of a new year just to get somewhere, or to change for the coming year ahead. Can we just give up on this idea that we all need to reinvent ourselves every. single. year?

Thank you, next.

Hello February, hello sweet treats and the (hopefully) first few glimpses of spring. Hello finally getting the new year full underway and embracing everything and anything 2019 might hold. But, just before we jump on in, let’s have a little look back on the month that was, January 2019.

Towards the end of 2018, I’d actually planned to take the entire month of January off the blog. I was so close to being done with blogging for most of the second half of 2018. I needed time away. I need a break. I had no idea where everything was going, no idea where I was going - and after all this time, the fact that I still can’t rely on blog income each month to even just pay my phone bill. Yeah. I was really starting to get pissed off with blogging in general.

But two weeks into January, I actually found myself missing blogging. I’d had many a chat with my blogging buddies about how I was feeling, what I was missing, and as always, bloggers do make the best friends. They talked me back to the keyboard and the creative juices started flowing again. I’ve also found a new love (aka obsession) with Pinterest and figuring that whole game out. Blogging, is back to being fun again, so I’m going to ride that wave as long as it lasts!

completing good read reading challenge

I tried not to set any real goals or resolutions in January, but I did jump on the good train Goodreads, finally updated my account, and shared a few of my tips and ticks for nailing your Goodreads reading goals! I’m hoping to surpass 52 books this year!

do something great quote

My lack of goals and resolutions still didn’t stop me setting a one little word intention for 2019. This year, my word is believe and it’s already pushing me and opening my eyes to some exciting new ideas and possibilities. I’ve also been loving reading everyone else word choices this year, I love seeing more and more people set a one little word intention each year!

vegetarian full english breakfast

January is one of those months were finances are tight and you try and keep a hold on those purse strings right up until a payday that never feels like its going to come. That being said, we did treat ourselves to a few meals out over takeaways on the couch - a must when the weather is so dark and miserable! It’s far too easy to just stay in and hibernate, and as cold as it is, cabin fever sets in quickly for me and I end up climbing the walls to escape! We popped out for breakfast at Georges Great British Kitchen one Sunday morning. It was a wonderful treat and I got to experience vegetarian black pudding! Game changer guys! Game changer!

I'd like to include some Instagram highlights here but I pretty much took all of January off Instagram - and I am totally ok with that! It's the one social platform I have well and truely fell out of love with, but I do have a few snaps scheduled so who knows, maybe I'll have a little more to share there next month!

vegan oat cookies

I can't end the post without giving a shoutout to my new homebake favourite - my oaty cinnamon cookies are the ultimate in healthy but downright delicious comfort food and I can't stop reaching for them!

How was your January? All ready to jump into February?

Until next time,
