One Little Word - 2019

Looking for an alternative to setting New Years goals and resolutions? For the last two years, instead of setting traditional resolutions, I’ve been choosing one little word of intention to focus on throughout the year ahead. I’ve found this to be an amazing, daily reminder, of what my true intentions are for the entire year It becomes less about ticking off the boxes everyone else is ticking off, and more about some serious personal development.

one little word

This year, my word is believe.

I’d been hoping to do this post waaaaaaaay earlier in the month, but it’s taken me a long time to come up with this one this year! I feel like I’ve been juggling all kinds of words up in the air for a while now, and eventually they’ve all fallen away, leaving just this one behind. Sometimes you have your word right there, as solid as a rock, on New Years Eve, sometimes it doesn’t come to you for weeks, but I swear, when it’s the right word, I get chills!

This whole practice of having one little word guide me throughout the year was inspired by Ali Edwards, the guru when it comes to memory keeping and scrapbooking. One Little Word is a year long memory keeping project she runs, where you take a word and see how it develops throughout the year, recording your progress in a scrapbook format. I’ve tried scrapbooking, but it turns out I love buying the supplies….but never use them. Someday, maybe, but I’d much rather just put the words down on a page!

Last years word was balance and I’ve got an update coming on that soon enough, but let’s keep moving forward for now. Believe. Even just saying it, at this moment in time, makes me feel better. It’s getting the cogs turning, it’s blowing off the dust, clearing out the cobwebs and pushing me forward.

Because every now and again, we all need to focus a little more attention on belief. Belief in ourselves, belief in our current path. We need to remember to believe in ourselves and we need to remember that as long as be believe we can, we will

Let’s get a little raw here, throw a little honesty about. It’s been a long while now since I really believed in myself. In my craft, my position, in who I’ve become over the years. That belief just hasn’t been there.

But I have to. I have to start believing in myself.
I have to start believing something wonderful is about to happen.
I want to believe whatever happens, is happening for a reason

What will your word for 2019 be?
