Moments and Favourites - May 2018

saloca in wonderland liverpool bloggers

Every now and then I remember these round-up posts and I’m filled with a desire to write one up. So here it is, especially for you! Grab a brew, grab a treat and get comfy whilst I ramble on about my loves of May

easy asian noodle soup

Asian Noodle Soup

I did a little round up of my favourite comforting rice bowls last week, but this month I seriously nailed Asian Noodle Soup. Whenever I feel like I’m coming down with something, this trumps chicken soup any day of the week! I’ve practiced this one a few times but May saw me whip up my best batch yet! You can find the Brothers Green Eats asian noodle soup recipe here - give it a try, it’s the warm hug Olaf has been dreaming of!

Girls Who Lunch @ Ginos

May saw me meet up with some of my favourite people and have a gastro-gram experience at Ginos. I’ve dined here a couple of times now and it never fails me! I’ve always gone for something different and each and every dish has tasted fabulous, fresh and full of flavour (say that 3 times fast!). If you’re lucky enough to be near one it’s well worth a visit, and the lunch menu makes it much more affordable!

sweet potato tuna fishcakes

Homemade sweet potato and tuna fishcakes

I’ve been on a right fish-cake cake recently, so of course I had to give whipping up my own a try. These sweet potato and tuna fish cakes were ridiculously easy and quick to make, though in hindsight I should have made them much smaller as they we’re a bugger to cook and keep together being so big! But SO tasty, so filling and did I mention tasty? I’ll be giving these another go in the coming weeks, they’ll be perfect for jazzing up my work salads.

Chicha Peruvian Street Kitchen

Located on Bold Street, Liverpool, this gem of a restaurant has become a fast favourite! I really wanted to do a full write up but my pictures didn’t turn out well at all, so I’ll settle for mentioning it here and using it as an excuse to head back soon! Peruvian tapas dishes, I had no idea what to expect but damn was it delicious. Big thumbs up goes to the soft shell crab bao bun with squid ink sauce, the plantain, and the chicken wings! The flavours were so different to anything I’d had before, it was all so moorish!

The Royal Wedding

Yes. This is legit counting as a favourite from May because it was amazing! Everything, from the dress to the service to the music and all the guest outfits - I watched the whole thing with my group chat buddies and we had a friggin ball! It was just beautiful - I may have watched the highlights more than once!

nakd bars review

Nakd Bars

Trying to eat a little less chocolate but still needing to treat myself with something sweet, I am all over these Nakd Bars; peanut delight and chocolate orange! I swear, the chocolate orange one tastes exactly like Terrys Chocolate Orange and hits that sweet spot oh so perfectly! The peanut delight is just a pure spoonful of peanut butter with every bite. Dare I say I would opt for these over chocolate any day?

alice in wonderland cath kidston collection

Alice X Cath Kidston collection

I made a beeline for my local Cath Kidston the day they launched the Alice in Wonderland collection and oh me oh my, it does not disappoint! Hands down, this has to be my favourite Disney line they have done! I managed to get the gorgeous shirt dress which fits like a dream and has pockets! I’ve got my eye on a few other bits but I’m going to hold off any see if I can bag any bargains during the sales!

The Americans

The Mr found this one on Amazon Prime and I’m obsessed! Two KGB agents living seemingly ordinary lives as the all-American family in the late 80s - only they’re not all American, they’re kick ass Russian spies and things are nowhere near as wholesome as they seem. I’ve been full on obsessed with it and can’t wait to see where it goes.

And you have been loving…

I feel like I lost my blogging mojo over the past couple of months, but you guys have been so so supportive and even though my posting has been sparse, it’s still been shown a whole lotta love! So thank you, from the very bottom of my little blogging heart! The most loved post from May was my review of the outstanding weekend long opening of The Florist, Liverpool

What have you been loving this past month?

Until next time,

  1. I love The Americans too, it's a fab TV series. I watched the Royal Wedding too, I agree, she looked amazing, both did. For the wedding, I've made afternoon tea and a cake. :)
