The Florist - Liverpool

the florist liverpool

It’s not often around these parts that you quite literally step into a fairytale. But behind the doors of Liverpool’s newest bar & restaurant, The Florist Liverpool, all your flower wall, fancy cocktails and pastel decor dreams really do come true!

Situated in the Old Blind School, they have waved some serious magic wands. From the minute you step inside, floor to ceiling sweeping trees, ornamental light fixtures and flowers, flowers everywhere.

If you're not familiar with this listed building, the interior is made up of a series of rooms. The Florist has utlised this space masterfully, with multiple bars, lounges, and multi-use rooms that are perfect for the experiences they offer, aswell as giving you a space you can truely feel comfortable in. The downstairs lounge was probably one of my favourite rooms, with it's high ceiling and so much light!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch weekend, so I grabbed my blogging besties, the most floral dress I could find and popped in for a weekend of sneak peaks and treats. The Florist pegs itself as an all day - all night kind of place, and I can see why. Dropping in on the Saturday night we were treated to everything The Florist has on offer - one thing I will say is if you're into your artisan cocktails, The Florist have got this nailed! From lychee coolers to watermelon gin, all topped with delicate floral garnishes, they're almost too pretty to drink!

As openings go, The Florist opened with a bang! From cocktail making masterclasses to cookery lessons, an actual floristry lesson, beer tasting and a gin journey! All of which they offer on a regular basis, you just need to get in touch and enquire! I missed out on the gin journey (fail!) but I did pop into the beer tasting - can this gin girl be won over by hops? Turns out, nope! But I gave it a good try and I learnt so much about local brewarys and ales, it was fascinating, even if I did sit there sipping on my gin!

If you're all about that Instagram aesthetic, and who isn't these days, The Florist have kicked it up a notch. With so many photo hot spots, your feed will have never looked so pretty. They've really taken into account how snap happy people are these days so you will be seeing that infamous flower wall and their handpainted quote walls all over the place - and with good reason! After much exploring, picture taking, cocktail trying and catching up, I eventually called it a night, after all, I was heading back the very next day to check out their Sunday roasts!

The Florist - Sunday Roast

As much as I love me some cocktails, nothing speaks to my heart like a good ol’ traditional roast dinner! I don’t get to have them all that often thanks to a crappy oven, so it’s a real treat for me!

I rocked up with some of my best blogging friends and their friends and family. We managed to bag the private dining room, a room for 8 - 10 guests situated just off the main restaurant floor, nice and tucked away. You can’t hear any of the hustle and bustle from the main room, so it’s great for large groups wanting to chat and catch up.

I went for the pork belly roast dinner with bramley apple sauce and a side of cheesy cauliflower with crispy onions. Oh. OH. I mean just feast your eyes upon this wonder! A yorkshire the size of my head, melt in the mouth pork belly, sweet sweet apple sauce, all the veggies and the cheesiest cauliflower anyone could ask for. Not a scrap was left behind!

No roast is complete without dessert, so I opted for the orange and lavender creme brulee with hazelnut twists. I have never seen that flavour combination before so I had to give it a try! The portion size was petite and perfect as it was a really sweet dessert. The lavender didn’t come through for me but it had a very strong orange flavour which for me, was perfect. The hazelnut twists needed more hazelnut spread but were a nice addition nonetheless.

What I love most about The Florist is the atmosphere and setting is perfect for a multitude of gatherings. I can see myself coming by for brunch with the girls, or for pre-drinks on a night out. I would pop in on a Sunday afternoon with the Mr for a treat, or bring my Mum along for a ladies who  lunch catch-up (I'm really hoping to see a pretty floral inspired afternoon tea appear on the menu!). There’s not many bars around the city that are so versatile!

A huge thank you to the lovely people at The Florist for inviting me along to their opening weekend. I had the best time and have already made plans to come back with many friends in tow!

What’s the most photogenic bar/restaurant that you know of?

Until next time,
