Nuxe Multipurpose Dry Oil and Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm

nuxe multipurpose dry oil review

Nuxe is one of those brands that I see and hear so much about, but for sometime, failed to get my hands on. When I was in Paris last year, Sephora had both the Nuxe dry oil and Nuxe ultra nourishing lip balm for too good to leave it behind prices, so home they finally came with me!

Nuxe Multipurpose Dry Oil

Price: £29
Pros: Smooth, hydrated skin. Visible improvement on scarring. Visible improvement on split ends.
Cons: Takes a while to get to work.
Would I buy again? Yes
Score: 3/5

Dry oils are a bit of a no-mans lands for me. They either work miracles or they put my skin right back to square one. Since November, my skin has taken an absolute battering from the elements and I’m having dry patches and breakouts like I haven’t in years. Might sound superficial, but it honestly makes me feel sad. My skin is my confidence and when my skin looks like pants, I feel like pants.

The Nuxe dry oil is a multi-purpose oil, and I’m all for products with more than one use and benefit - you want to see some bang for your buck! But an oil that can be used on your face and hair? Insert my befuddled face here.

Enriched with nourishing Tsubaki oil (yeah, I had to Google it too), this oil is an antioxidant pumping  machine, that effectively acts as an armoured shield against pollution and other nasty external elements. Not only does it repair the skin from free radical damage, but it does it in such a luxurious way that you feel like an absolute Queen, oh hello confidence!

I’ve been using this on alternate nights (Tartes Maracuja Oil being my other facial oil) after cleansing. It’s so rich, I wouldn’t put anything else on my skin. It takes a good while to soak in, so I wouldn’t recommend putting it on right before bed, give it at least 20 - 30minutes if you can. 2 Sprays onto the palm of my hand then I warm it up and press into my face, neck, ears and d├ęcolletage.

Don’t expect to see results over night, it took at least 2 weeks for me to start seeing a noticeable difference. I’m still working on some acne scarring issues on my chin from late last year but slowly they are beginning to fade.

Remember how I said this was for your hair too? Every other week I will go through my hair after washing and drying and snip off any dead or split ends I can find. Once I’m satisfied (and boy is it satisfying!) I warm just one spray of the oil up on my finger tips and then run it through the ends of my hair. I’ve noticed a dramatic reduction in split ends and dare I say it? My hair feels stronger? It leaves a little tactile residue behind on the hair but nothing visible.

Nuxe Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm

Cost: £10
Pros: Smells amazing, lips feel softer, dry skin repaired.
Cons: Consistency is waxy and uncomfortable on the lips.
Would I buy again? Yes
Score: 3/5

I had to re-write this review, which is why it should have been up weeks ago but is only just now making an appearance! See, in the beginning, I loved this lip balm, but after a few weeks, I started to hate it. Like really hate it. That waxy consistency on my lips was really starting to annoy me, it made my lips feel like they had a layer over the top and if I put it on before bed, I would wake up with this really grim film across my lips. Gross much.

I stopped using it for about 2 weeks, during which time it got really cold. And my lips got really chapped. I tried every other balm in my arsenal but nothing seemed to be working - and there’s nothing worse than cracked, flakey lips, that turn every smile into a grimace. One morning the Nuxe lip balm just rolled it’s way to the front of my drawer and, well folks, desperate times call for desperate measures. So I popped on and hoped for the best.

Ultra Nourishing Lip Balm

And the best I got! Within days my lips finally looked like they belonged to a human and not the lizard people. They looked and felt so soft. The waxy consistency still bothers me but, it’s a bother I’m willing to put up with. I only use the lip balm twice a day and I don’t need to use anything else for the rest of the day. Once in the morning and once before bed and my lips just stay super hydrated! For whatever reason, I don’t get the gross film on my lips when wearing it overnight anymore either - strange but true!

Have you tried either of these products? Have you ever had a product you’ve hated in the past suddenly become a new favourite?

Until next time,

  1. This looks fab. I love face oils but I hate that part where you're waiting for it to sink in and you feel a bit icky! 2 weeks is decent time to see a difference, I think. Skincare takes so long to kick in.
