First Impressions: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skincare

tarte rainforest of the sea skincare review

My heart beats for Tarte. It’s pretty much the only make-up I use these days and folks, it’s a game changer! But if I thought Tarte make-up was something to get a little over excited, well, Tarte skincare might just make me explode! For the past couple of weeks I’ve been giving Tartes Rainforest of the sea moisture boosting line a thorough battering for your reading pleasure.

First off, these were all bought in a box set that doesn’t seem to be available anymore. It was picked up in Sephora, USA for me and I can’t find it over there either, but, you can pick up the products individually! Without further ado, let’s make a splash and dive right in!

Tarte Maracula Oil

A beautifully bottled cold pressed, suitable for all skin types, vegan facial oil that is, in a word, a dream. Bursting with vitamin C, it’s going to liven up dull complexions and drench winter battered dry skin with love. I’ve been using it once every other day, usually as a night treatment, and especially after any exfoliation treatments. It soaks right in leaving no greasy residue behind and it hasn’t been clogging up my pores - winner winner! I recently had a very random, unexplainable allergic reaction on my hands to a soap and it’s left them so dry and scaly - grim! I’ve been popping a drop of the maracula oil on the back of my hands once a day, a great alternative to hand cream, and their grim-ness is subsided!

As oils go, it’s not a stand out winner from ones I’ve used in the past but it is lovely and it does exactly what it says on the tin. My only complaint is that I really don’t like the smell….it smells like the grease tray on a George Forman grill…ew.

Tarte Drink of H2o

A gel based vegan moisturiser, it cools the skin on contact, soothing and calming redness. It’s such a treat, especially first thing in the morning after cleansing. A combination of the elements and central heating has seriously sucked my skin of life as we know it. Trying to get a bit of vitality back in there has been a long slog, but with dreamy little lotions like this, it makes it much more enjoyable. I’ve been popping this on slightly damp skin after cleansing in the morning, giving it the time it takes to brush and tie back my hair, then going in with a daily SPF moisturiser.

A little goes a really long way with this one, but again, the smell is just…odd. It’s a very heavy perfume scent, but the product itself is made without artificial fragrances, so it’s all just coming from the ingredients.

Tarte Marine Boosting Mist

I am all for multi-tasking products and this little beauty is not only a refreshing facial mist, but a make-up setting spray too. Primes, sets, hydrates, and refreshes all in one - if you’re a blogger who finds yourself dashing off to events straight from work this is a selfie-saver, especially in travel size! I’ve reached for this right over New Year, when you’re dashing from door to door, I might feel dog tired and hungover to hell on the inside, but I’m glowing on the outside and ready to Vogue.

Seen as though scents are a theme today, I’ll tell you that this smells like fresh lemonade and is giving me all the ‘come and get me Summer’ vibes with every spritz!

Tarte Rescue Lip Quench in Shell

Hands down, this would probably be in my top 5 products of 2017. I have a nightmare when it comes to lip care and there are very few products that actually do anything for me when it comes to dry lips. The lip rescue is super nourishing and the shade shell is basically a sheer balm with the faintest tint to it that just gives your lips life. I’ve been taking this out with me daily and using it not only nourish my lips but make me feel that bit more put together without having to pull out the lipstick or gloss.

I know you want to know….it smells minty fresh!

As first impressions go, well, I’m impressed. The Lip Rescue and the Drink of H20 are probably my favourite and the two I am most likely to repurchase in the future. But as a whole, the products work really well with each other and they all do exactly what they set out to do. They’re all cruelty free and vegan, so they score bonus points there from me, and let’s be honest, if you’re like me, a sucker for pretty packaging, you will not be disappointed!

Have you tried Tarte skincare?

Until next time,
