With the first week of Yoga Camp behind me, I thought now would be a good time to check in with a little progress update. You can see the previous weeks updates in the links above!
Week one has been all about setting the foundations for the month-long practice, with lots of focus on breathing and checking in with form and how I'm feeling in general. It actually started out pretty easy to get my workouts in but as soon as I started working shifts in work again towards the end of the week, the practice was much more difficult!This year's videos are long, on average 30 - 50minutes which I am really struggling to fit in.
Shifts, exhaustion and injuries really messed up the second half of the week for me and I ended up having to take 3 days off. I'd pulled the back of my right leg and it had got to the point where even just walking on it was causing me to clench my jaw and hold back tears. It's finally eased up and I can get back into the yoga but I'm scared of over doing it again. Doom.
As an added bonus, or crazy ass punishment depending on how you look at it, I've been adding in the ShayLoss daily workouts too. These are only 5 minutes long but the sweat is literally pouring out of me at the end of it. Again, the second half of the week was a washout and I wasn't able to follow the videos. BONUS, as the workouts are so short I was able to group them together for an intense 20 minutes workout on Saturday.
I managed to hit the gym on Tuesday for 20 minutes hiit on the treadmill and a light arms workout. I'm planning on heading there later today too for more cardio and a total body kettlebells session.
On a final fitness note, my brother got me a FitBit Flex for Christmas which I have become obsessed with, marching my way to 10k+ steps a day ever since. I've been adding small walks on my lunch breaks in work to boost my step count for the day and won a challenge this week where I racked up nearly 80,000 steps in 5 days.
There's a very good chance I have slightly overdone it this week, so I'm looking at alternating my yoga camp days with Shayloss workouts, doing 2 gym sessions this week and I'm aiming for a second step count win.
