Christmas Bucket List

christmas bucket list

Christmas is just around the corner and I haven’t bought any presents, tinsel or wrapping paper yet but, I do have a box of mince pies in the cupboard!

I love this time of year and now that bonfire night is well and truly behind us and all the shops are putting up their decorations, I think it’s about time I got a little extra Christmassy around here! I love Christmas blog posts, they always give me lots of gift giving and Christmas baking inspiration so of course, I’ll be throwing my candy cane covered bauble-icious posts into the mix!

I love a good list, there’s something so satisfying about checking something off, but usually it revolves around paying bills and sorting out my freezer (yay, adulting…not). So I thought I’d put together something a little more festive and fun, my Christmas Bucket List! These are just a few things I really want to do this year, some are timeless traditions, others are some new Christmassy things I want to try! So get your Christmas pj's on and grab a hot chocolate, we’re about to get festive!

  • Go ice skating - I’ve been about a million years ago and I was awful at it and terrified the entire time. I can’t imagine now being any different but c’mon it’s so cliche it just has to be done!
  • Build a gingerbread house. I’ve eaten a fair few during Christmases past, but I’ve never actually made my own!
  • Create a Christmas Movie bucket list and watch them all!
  • Go watch a Panto - it’s behind you!
  • Have a Christmas jumper day out - usually involving food, pubs, more food and more pubs.
  • Go to the Christmas Markets - I have plans to visit the Liverpool and Manchester markets, but would love to get a third one in!
  • Christmas baking - needs no explanation!
  • Buy some Christmas jewellery - I’m coveting some dainty silver snowflake earrings and matching necklace from JewelleryBox.co.uk
  • Buy a Christmas Yankee - I had Christmas Eve last year, what will it be this year?
  • Make paperchains
  • Go window shopping all wrapped up with a hot chocolate in between my mittens!
  • See a Christmas Carol concert - I can’t remember the last time I went to one! I love carols at Christmas, just don’t ask me to sing you any!
  • Make peppermint bark - I’ve had the store-bought version from America and loved it but can’t seem to find anything similar in the UK, so maybe I should just make my own?
  • Write Christmas cards this year - apart from family, I failed on the Christmas card front last year! I will be sending out as many as possible this year to make up for it!
  • Decorate my parents tree - I love putting up the decorations with my family so I’ll be taking a day off work to head back home and help them with their decorations! I can’t wait!
  • Eat Mum’s Christmas Cake - Oh it’s going to be a good one this year! She’s used an old traditional recipe and about a bottle of brandy!
  • Try mulled wine - I had a sip once and it was just way too strong, but I’m all for trying a different one and seeing how it goes down! Tis the season!
  • Get new pyjamas for Christmas Eve…
  • and maybe some Christmas bedding too!
  • Watch a Christmas film with my dad. This is something we have always done for as long as I can remember and not living at home, this is one Christmas tradition I miss! Somehow, I will get us to sit down and watch a festive film together this year!
  • Order a handmade ornament for my tree - I got one last year and am thinking this could be a new tradition for us!

What’s on your Christmas bucket list this year?

Until next time,

    1. We should go! Maybe before all the festive tipples...then again I'll need the dutch courage to get me on the ice!

  2. Love me some mulled wine at Christmas. I prefer to make my own so I can get the balance of spices, wine and juice just right. It's just perfect on a cold Christmas day.

    1. I've never tried making my own, maybe that's where I'm going wrong!

  3. Mulled wine is amazing. If you didn't like the one you tried, make it at home. Just heat the wine you like and add the spices you like. Your list sounds fab! xx

    1. The one I tried was homemade just but somebody else! It was so strong, the fumes from it cooking nearly knocked me over! Maybe if I make my own I'll at least have control over the strength!

  4. Christmas market - apparently there's one in Leeds so come to the Leeds meet on 5th December to get your third one in!
I bought a few Christmas Yankee candles the other week, one was apple flavoured but couldn't tell you the rest off the top of my head. Try Asda too as they have a separate Yankee candle range, I smelt these yesterday and have a couple earmarked for my next visit.
Oh yes i'd love to go to a carol concert, not been for years!

You'll have to do a post in the New Year about how many you ticked off! x

    1. I would if I could but I can't! That would have been a perfect way to check a third one off my list!

Ooo I've seen the Asda Yankees, they're brilliant and such a good price, all because the jar is a little different to the more traditional Yankee jar!

I will defiantly be updated on any and all I check off the list! I love a good list haha!

  5. Aww what a sweet idea! I've never heard of anyone making a Christmas bucket list before, but we always make summer ones so it makes a lot of sense! So many of these would be on mine too, including the Christmas cake, film with dad and actually sending cards (because I didn't bother either... ooops). Great post :)

    1. I love seasonal bucket lists! You have a tighter time frame to get things done unlike a traditional bucket list but because of that you tend to focus on what are the most important/fun activities!

  7. Uuffda -- you haven't been ice skating?? Come to Minnesota -- there are 10'000 lakes to skate on and an ice rink in every neighborhood! It's like every person in the state of Minnesota is born with skates on their feet, ha ha!
You have an excellent Christmas bucket list though. I hope you're able to cross some of those things off this year, and that you'll write all of the details in blog posts :)

  8. Ahh this is so cute and festive! I always buy a new ornament for the tree every year - we are the not the kind of family who has a themed and matching tree!

Try mulled wine again, it's great! If you still hate it, mulled cider is also pretty nice
