With coupons and offers burning a hole in my pocket and my skin care drawer finally starting to look a little forlorn (it’s only taken me 8 months!) it was about time I treated myself to a little skin care haul!
My skin has been going through some serious changes of late, most noticeable, dryness. This is not something I’m used to dealing with, having had oily skin since puberty. I’m well into my late twenties now, the thirties are in sight and with age comes beauty, wisdom (so they tell me) and clearly, a new skin!
I’ve dabbled in the No7 skincare range before but having tried about a zillion in-store testers, their new Early Defence range found it’s way into my basket. The night creme seems rich but lightweight and the eye cream has a lovely thin consistency that should wear well under makeup. I figured start at the bottom and work my way up. The Early Defence line is targeted at a younger skin, and I do consider my skin to still have quite a bit of youthfulness about it, as well as being as temperamental as my teenage self.
No7 Protect & Perfect Intense facial sun protection spf30 (£14.50)
With some serious fun in the sun on the horizon, I went through my holiday drawer and found my facial sunscreen from last Novembers trip to be looking somewhat worse for wear. I wasn’t totally enamoured with it when I used it so really wanted to try something new. The No7 sun care line has had some rave write-ups this season so I figured it was worth giving a go! A quick tester showed it to be lightweight, quickly absorbed and, most importantly, not greasy. No residue or shimmer left behind either. Bonus!
This was easily my go to cleanser last year and oh Liz how I’ve missed thee! I was in need of a more heavy duty cleanser for my evening routine that would clean and nourish my skin without exacerbating this dry patch I’m going through. I’ve always found the hot cloth cleanser to be gentle and moisturising, but at the same time giving a really effective deep down clean.
I can’t even begin to imagine how horrible sunburnt lips would be! *shudders*. I’ve got myself a fantastic No7 SPF lip gloss but I wanted something that will care for my lips a little more to wear underneath and double the poolside protection. You can’t really go wrong with a Nivea lip balm.
Olay Complete day fluid normal/combination skin spf15 (£5)
I’ve been buying Olay Complete longer than any relationship I have ever been in, it’s my soulmate. (Yes, it’s perfectly normal to form this kind of bond with a product!). Anyone who has been following the blog for a while now will know this little beauty well. No matter how many other moisturisers I try, nothing has ever worked as well on my skin as Olay Complete. Quickly absorbed, no greasy residue, doesn’t clog the pores, great under make-up, the list goes on. On offer for just £5 for 200ml, I had to pick up a spare bottle!
I walked out of Boots feeling just a little giddy with my new purchases, that’s normal, right?
