#AtoZChallenge: Simple

simple skincare

My skincare journey started with Simple.

When I first started venturing down the skincare and beauty aisles, the first products I ever remember buying with my pocket money were from Simple. My first cleanser, toner, moisturiser, night cream, face mask, you name it, if Simple had it on offer, it was theirs I always started with and it was years before I even dared to venture from Simples display and try things from other brands.

My routine is much more varied these days, but time and time again, I still come back to Simple, especially when they’ve got a new product launch or my skin is having a rough ol’ time and I want to take it back to basics.

Simple are the experts when it comes to sensitive skin, having been one of the first brands to launch both fragrance free and colour-free soap back in the 60s (I bet you didn’t realise they’d been around so long!). Though you might not consider your skin sensitive it is. Some more so than others, but we all have an element of sensitivity when it comes to our skin. With some products being pumped with all kinds of ingredients we can’t even pronounce, Simples mission is to make products that go above and beyond the call for kindness. Simple, straightforward, no muss, no fuss skincare; that’s Simple.

I can remember the first ever products I picked up, their Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser and the Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes. I thought I was so grown up, I mean I had face wipes. And it only progressed from there.

I’ve been using their Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Wash Gel for more years than I can remember, and I’m not usually so loyal to a product! It’s one of the best cleansers I’ve ever used when it comes to my morning routine. I’m looking for something to remove any product residue from my nighttime routine, and whatever oil has accumulated over night. It gives my skin a thorough, yet gentle cleanse and wakes it up, ready for the day.

Their Kind to Skin Soothing Eye Balm has been another firm favourite of mine for a while too. I use it as my evening eye-cream, it’s lovely and light, hydrating and helps reduce any puffiness that might puff up as I sleep.

Simple is a great place to start when your starting out with skincare, they’re my go-to recommendation for young, teenage skin. My teenage skin was pretty typical; oily, with lots of breakouts, redness, completely out of control. Simple not only helped me get in under control, but it taught me how to look after my skin. Above all else, it was purse friendly, so when my pocket money was spent, I could usually ask my Mum to buy me some new products and she never felt as though it was breaking the bank!

Their Clear Skin Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash is my go-to when I need an effective, budget friendly exfoliator. It controls oil and shine, without being too harsh on my skin and stripping it. It’s so gentle and effective that over the Summer, when my skins getting a little oilier, I can use it several times a week with no dryness or irritation, just nice, oil controlled skin, matte skin!

I’m also a big fan of their Vital Vitamin Night Cream. It keeps your skin hydrated though the night, leaving you with plump, refreshed skin in the morning. You can see my full review here!

Have you used anything from Simple? What was the first skincare brand you used?

Until next time,
