January Favourites 2015

january favourites 2015

Not allowing myself to buy anything new in January meant I had no choice but to dig deep into the beauty drawers and see what was rolling around back there! I found some real gems that I’d completely forgotten about and fell in love with all over again. So let’s get on with this, shall we?

Original Source Body Moisturiser

I picked this up in early December and have been using it daily ever since. It’s a perfect lightweight formula that’s absorbed quickly into the skin - and it smells divine! My skin has been given a boost and is holding up well in these wintery days we’ve been having! No complaints and I’d happily repurchase!

Hurraw Lip Balm

I’ve always been a big Vaseline fan but lately, the whole ‘stick your finger in and smear it around’ hasn’t been doing it for me and I’ve been drawn back to tube-chap sticks. I love how healthy and organic the Hurraw balms are, so I don’t feel like I’m using anything harmful on my lips. I’ve found since switching to the balm my lips haven’t felt so irritated and dry between uses like they tend to when I’m using Vaseline. Anyone else get this from using Vaseline?

Origins GinZing

This has been my go-to nighttime moisturiser for the entirety of January and I’ve barely made a dent in the pot! This stuff smells amazing and is really making my skin happy. My skin looks brighter when I wake up, even if I haven’t had my 8+ hours beauty sleep. It’s given my face such a moisture boost that no matter how much time I reluctantly spend outside in the wind, rain and hail we’ve been having of late, I don’t actually look as weather beaten as I feel! Hurrah!

Steam Cream

My feet, my poor thermal-tighted-boot-cladded-walking-to-work feet have been battered over the last couple of months and the cracks finally started to show. Cracked heels are no laughing matter, I bloody hate them. Summer and sandals isn’t exactly round the corner but there’s nothing wrong with having prepped and pretty toes year round! I couldn’t believe how well the Steam Cream worked on my cracked heels, just 2 weeks of daily application and already I could see and feel a difference! A review is on it’s way!

Apple MacBook Pro

I finally caved on Black Friday and bought myself the 13” MacBook Pro with Retina display. I’ve been putting off buying a Mac for years but after moving out of my parents and giving up my desktop I found myself in a bit of a computer-crisis. I didn’t have one. Sure, Mr let me use his, but I wanted something that was mine, something I could work on whenever, wherever. After much internal arguing with myself, I closed my eyes and handed over my credit card. Suffice to say the bill has been paid and I haven’t looked back since! Best decision ever. I’m pretty sure there hasn’t been a night since I bought this little beauty that I haven’t been working on it!

Next Home

Having been in our new place now for 4 months we’re really settling in and continuing to put our own stamp on it. One place we keep finding ourselves drawn to for decorative bits and bobs is Next. Their home section is marvellous and our living room is slowly turning into a mini Next home showroom, not that I’m complaining. I’m in love with their canvas art, it’s top quality and so reasonably priced!

One Line a Day

I bought one of these as a Christmas present for a friend, then included it in my 2015 Diary round-up post back in December. I fell in love with the concept of this little blue book so much that I caved and purchased one for myself. Basically, you sum up your day in just one line (it’s more like 5-6), and the Diary can hold up to 5 years worth of one-liners. I’ve filled in everyday in January, it takes about 2 minutes and I can’t wait to look back on my answers over the coming years - if I can stick with it that long!

You’ve been loving…

The most popular post on the blog this month…No-Buy January! This year I have decided to set myself little monthly challenges and I kicked the year off by banning myself from buying any new beauty/skin care products unless I completely ran out. I managed to get to the end of the month with no unnecessary purchases and barely a dent in my current beauty stash so there’s still a way to go but I’ve proven it can be done, now, onto the next challenge!

What have you been loving this month? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

  1. MACBOOK PRO! I have one too and I love it. I dropped mine at work though and the screen is bent and it won't shut properly. Distress.

    1. That is EXACTLY why mine will very very rarely EVER leave the safety (and instance covered zone) of the house! I'm terrified of dropping it!!
