#FitnessRevolution 40 Day Challenge - Week One

On Wednesday, Corinne of SkinnedCarTree told me about a 40 day fitness challenge she had signed up for. After reading her post and getting in touch with DWFitness, I was ready to sign on the dotted line. Back at the start of the month I challenged myself to work-out everyday through February...and it hasn't been going so well.

Turns out I don't do things well when I do them alone.

Already, #FitnessRevolution has a solid groups of dedicated members who have all started to get to know one another and support each other on this journey. And with a fair few bloggers being involved, I don't want to let the side down!

The idea is, instead if giving up something for Lent, we take on something - fitness. We commit ourselves to following a work-out plan provided by DWFitness for 40 days!

I'm scared just thinking about it! But we can do this! We can start a #FitnessRevolution - YES for the fitness cheese!

Week One of the #FitnessRevolution challenge has come to an end so I figured a round-up was in order! (The challenge started on Wednesday so this week looks a little shorter!)

Day 1 - Today's challenge was a 20 minute jog - Nailed it! I paired a 20 minute jog with a 20 minute total body work-out on the cross trainer.

Day 2 - 3 x 20 squats - Done!

Day 3 - Plank -  Time held: 1 minute. I really didn't think I could hold my plank for that long! We do a lot of floor work in my exercise class which included planking, turns out it must be working!

Day 4 - 3 Minute Challenge; How many of the following can I do in one minute?

Jump Squats: 30
Star Jumps: 50
Sit Ups: 21

I found this really difficult! I don't think I had the best posture for doing my jump squats and by time I got to the sit-ups I was shattered!

Day 5 - Rest - I went ahead and did two 20 minute yoga sessions (Yoga with Adriene), I haven't done much yoga lately so I really want to get back into it, it's a great way to just spend a little time getting me back to me.

Are you doing the 40 day #FitnessRevolution challenge? How are you feeling now week one is over and done with? Let me know in the comments below! We can do this!

Until next time,

  1. Not heard about this but sounds great. Good luck. I will just continue my usual massive walk to the tube and daily mini gym sessions xx

    1. So far so good! I'm loving the variety and the mini 'tests' so I should be able to see an improvement if I really push myself into it! That massive walk to the tube will be doing you the world of good! I walk up hill 20 minutes to work everyday and it's a killer but I've noticed a huge difference!

  2. Yay! I'm so glad you joined!

That 1 minute challenge was so hard, wasn't it? I never realised a minute could last that long, haha! The star jumps were a killer and the squat jumps. I doubt I'll beat my score next week!

    1. I'm glad you showed me it!

The 1 minute challenge killed me, I'm pretty sure I'm still paying for it today! The star jumps weren't too bad but I couldn't believe how few sit ups I did! I used to do 200-300 a night WAY back in the day, I was a little addicted to them but I doubt I could get close to that these days! Not yet anyway!

    1. Even just a little a day makes a difference! A little something is better than a lot of nothing, that's how I see it! :)

    1. The challenges vary, some are the same but they push you to run further or do extra sets etc, so you build up nice and slow! It's encouraging me to do added extras too, like an extra gym session or yoga video! I love how it's all pretty home-based, so even people without a membership can take part - even though it's started you could go at the program at your own pace, set your own dates!
