Quick and easy green juice for beginners

easy healthy green juice smoothie

Made a resolution to get fitter? Hit the gym more? Eat healthier? OK, I didn’t make that resolution myself but, having spent the entirety of December poorly, I was officially fed up and made the conscious decision to get my ass in gear and try to boost my health and immune system.

I love smoothies and fruit juices! I’m always picking them on in the supermarket, but I hardly drink them on a regular basis. The odd blast of goodness into my body every now and then is fine and dandy but it’s not really going to have any long term benefits.

SO, at the start of 2015, I went and picked myself up a Breville 500w hand blender/chopper and got blending! I wanted something quick, easy and simple, that would taste somewhat palatable, and be packed full of nutrients and goodness. Here’s what I came up with;

1 serving / 450mls

You will need:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 handfull of spinach
  • 1 handfull of kale
  • 1/2 a kiwi
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 handful of blueberries
  • 1 handfull of raspberries
  • 1/4 avocado

Blend the water, spinach and kale first into a nice green mush. Yes, this will smell like the garden, keep going. Then chop up and add in the rest of the ingredients. Make sure you remove the peel off the kiwi or it’s going to get hairy in there. Once everything is all blended up, throw in 3 - 4 ice cubes and blend. Pick a cute glass and serve. Bottoms up!

Note: there will be a ton of seeds/pips/texture to this, so if you’re more of a smooth operator, this might not be the one for you.

This easy to make smoothie provides you with a truck load of nutrients; Protein, vitamins A, B, C, K,  magnesium, iron, fibre, potassium, collagen, and a powerhouse of antioxidants. It tastes pretty good too, very banana-ry!

Until next time,

  2. Wow, bet that is packed with vitamins! I've wanted to get into smoothies for ages but find they take sooo many ingredients for a small amount of juice! Maybe I'll give it a go :)

    1. I was put off by the amount of ingredients, I always found I was throwing away more than I was using and it was costing a fortune..then I discovered a much cheaper place to buy the ingredients and figured out I could freeze everything! Saved me so much time and money!

  3. This post has made me realise that I need to get back into juicing, the only problem is my juicer is a pain to clean and that's what puts me off. This nifty gadget looks so easy and I'm sure it's a breeze to clean x x

    1. My blender is SO easy to clean it's ridiculous! Just a quick rinse in the wash bowl and job done, it helps that every detaches too! If it was a pain to clean I know I'd be less inclined to make the juices!
