No Buy January

Having a blog is one of the best excuses to buy all the things. From being inspired by blog posts and bloggers recommendations, to jumping on the bandwagon of the latest cult product, I find myself down the aisles of Boots and Harvey Nicks more often than not, picking up more moisturiser, more shampoo, more hand cream. More More More. I justify about 90% of random purchases by telling myself they’re for the blog; I can haul it, review it, swatch it, pop a picture on Instagram - insta-in the basket.

Over 2015 I want to set myself various 30 day challenges so, being the first month, here’s my first challenge. Can I go a whole month without buying anything? Now, by anything, there’s got to be a few exclusions. Food and things for the home don’t count, I won’t go a month not buying toilet roll! And if I run out of shampoo then I’m allowed to buy a new one. What I’m not allowed to buy…is anything I already have. Seriously…I have a drawer full of various shower gels and bath bombs, so as tempted as I am by picking up a discounted bottle of Snow Fairy in Lush - it’s not going to happen!

Meals out, trips to the cinema, they’re all still on the cards, this challenge is more about not spending money on random purchases and to give me a chance to actually use up all the products I’ve got rolling around my drawers!

Could you go a whole month without buying any new goodies? Any 30 day challenge ideas you want to throw at me? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

  4. I think this is a fabulous idea! I actually went (most of) December without buying anything except Christmas gifts and groceries. I didn't buy anything for myself or eat out, except when I was visiting my sister in San Diego (because duh, we had to go out!). It actually wasn't that bad once I got into it. :) Good luck!

    1. That's brilliant, good to know it can be done! I hope I never have to extend the no-buy to eating out too, I love my food too much!
