Boux Avenue, Liverpool One - Event Night!

This past Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited along to the His and Hers Magazine event held in the Boux Avenue store in Liverpool One! Myself and a wonderful bunch of bloggers headed down to the store to check it out.

For those that don't know, Boux Avenue is a luxurious store selling lingerie, swimwear and lounge wear. They pride themselves on the outstanding quality of their products, as well as they're unbelievably wonderful customer service. They aim to bring a little romance, seduction and style to your boudoir - and boy do they do just that!

I've been in once or twice and I'm always in awe of not only the collections on offer, but the presentation too. They keep a few select sizes out on display, but to avoid over-filled and that 'cluttered' department store look, they store the rest of the sizes in beautiful drawers underneath the display. Not only does this make finding your size easier, but it's a much more enjoyable shopping experience. You really do feel like you've stepped into a classy boutique. Even the way they wrap your purchases, everything feels like a luxurious, high class service!

I have a bit of a...thing...for underwear. Always have. My drawers are literally over-flowing with underwear, I can't say no to a pretty bra - and I always have to have the matching pants! What if I get hit by a bus and they have to cut my clothes off? Yes, I believe they'd mock me if my underwear didn't match - the things I think of eh? Back in the day, I was a big fan of La Senza but over the last couple of years they have totally lost their once trade-mark classic, feminine look and now everything just looks so garish and illuminous, no thanks! Boux Avenue has stepped into the gap in the market, offering well tailored, classic feminine designs that are sexy too.

Boux Avenue stock more than just knickers - their lounge wear is some of the comfiest around. I fell in  love with so many of their pajama sets - especially the more summery shorts/vest combos, perfect for the summer or trips abroad. The quality is outstanding, everything is so soft and comfortable. They also had less conventional lounge pieces, like this lace back lounge top that I was so temped to buy! Talk about classy pajamas! You could head out to the Tesco in that and nobody would think you're grabbing milk in you pjs!

The event itself was more like a fancier evening of shopping, with a never ending supply of champagne and a generous 10% discount on any purchases made on the night. They had a lovely lady at the back of the store giving free manicures too but the queue was so long I had to pass.

Boux Avenue offer a free, professional, bra fitting service which I was talked into having. Now, I think the last time I went for a fitting was close to 10 years ago - I've been the same bra size since I was 16. One of the lovely Boux Belles, Leanne, took me off to the fitting rooms to measure me.

I've got to say, this was one of the best bra fittings I've ever had. Not only are the fitting rooms themselves divine, with lights that change to show how you'd look at different times of the day - but the service itself was so professional, fun and I learned so much about how to wear a bra - properly! Leanne measured me up and told me she would go out into the store to get me a bra to try, now, this was where things get very interesting for me. I've always been a 32A...she told me she was off to get a 32B.

Boobs ladies. Turns out, they never stop growing. As we continue to age, our bodies continue to change, even at different times of the month are boobs can change in size. This is why we should never continue to only ever buy the same size bra we bought when we were 16..do you see where I'm going with this? We should never go on autopilot and buy a bra in a store without trying it on. And we should always try the next cup up. All of this was breaking news to me - someone who not only prides herself on her underwear collection, but thought she pretty much had her size nailed.

So Leanne comes back with a 32B plunge bra - I tried it on and wow, instant improvement! It fit like a glove, even Leanne said I was holding myself straighter with the new bra on. Then she had an idea. A crazy, insane, out of the tree idea. She went back out into the store and came back with a bra I'd mentioned liking - in a 32C. I laughed. Unprofessional I know, but I laughed and told her she was mad. There was no way a C cup was fitting me - but doing what a blogger must do, I took the offered bra and put it on.

WOW! I mean, I'm still a little floored by this but I feel like in the space of a 30 minute fitting, I'd come out with a surgery free boob job. In those 30 minutes I'd gone from a 32A...to a 32C! The bra actually fit - and it fit well! It was so comfortable, I barely felt like I had a bra on! Whatever magic that belle weaved in those fitting rooms - all I can say is thank you! Take it from me ladies, you're in good hands with the Boux Belles!

I also snagged myself a cute little Boux goodie bag filled with treats; knickers, hand cream, Petals, and a little bag of white chiffon scented pearls - perfect for your underwear drawer at home or your suitcase when traveling! We also received a copy of His and Hers magazine.

In all, I had a wonderful evening. Champagne flowed, bloggers mingled and got snap happy around the store. I had the best bra fitting of my life, treated myself to a fancy new set in my fancy new size, and whole-hardheartedly enjoyed myself. Big thanks to the lovely ladies at Boux for making this event happen - I'll be back in store shortly!

    1. VERY essential, it's amazing how you instantly carry yourself so differently in the right bra no matter what size you are. I really do think wearing kick-ass underwear that makes you look and feel good instantly makes you look and act more confident!
