January 2014 Favourites

Hello February! It’s the start of a brand new month so you know what that means…favourites time! So lets get started!

Lancôme Gel Éclat Cleanser

I put a review up about this amazing cleanser last week. I’ve been using this daily throughout January and I’ve been loving it. It’s been a long long while since I changed up the core products of my skin care routine. I’ve been using this with my Clarisonic and the results have been pretty great! My skin is feeling cleaner and looking brighter! Can’t ask for much more than that!

Lancôme Visionnaire

This little sample sized bottle lasted me about 6 weeks – I used it pretty sparingly because it’s a real luxury item and I just know I can’t afford the full sized version right now! Full size is close to £90! I really really didn’t want to love this product as much as I have but since it ran out I’ve realised what a difference it had been making to my skin. My complexion was much more even, with redness around acne and old acne scars reduced. I even think it worked a little magic around on the uneven skin tone around my eyes. You can check out my attempt at buying a dupe here, but it looks like nothing can match up to the real thing. I’d love to get my hands on another sample to trial it for a little longer before I come close to making the £90 commitment!

Basin Christmas Soap Bars

I’ve only ever seen Basin in Downtown Disney, Walt Disney World, Florida. It’s pretty similar to Lush, in that it’s a hand made, goodness filled ingredients, soaps, shampoos and other bath time luxuries. My parents picked me up a few of their Christmas edition soap bars and a couple of bath fizzes on their last trip, just before Christmas. I’ve just finished up using their Peppermint Bark body soap and am so happy I still have another two to use – these smell amazing. The other two scented soaps I have are; cinnamon and Christmas tree. Christmas scents in February? Why not! They’re not the most moisturising but they leave your skin smelling delicious!

Primark Super Cosy 300 Denier Thermal Tights

Let’s face it, I’ve spent the winter bundled up in jeans and jumpers and I’m so fed up if that ensemble now! I love my dresses but most of them are not exactly ‘it’s like the Artic out there’ appropriate. These tights where recommended to me an age ago and I am in love with them! The are so soft and warm, I actually think they keep me warmer than my jeans! Perfect for wintering up my summer dresses. For £3.50 they’re a bargain! They wash so well, mine have only bobbled where my boots rub against them – but nobody can see that!

Bare minerals – Warmth

It’s been an age since I reached for this bronzer, I’m not even sure why I changed but I’ve definatly fallen back in love with it. It looks ultra dark in the pot, it’s so highly pigmented that you need the smallest amount. Loose powder bronzer can be so hit and miss (could be why I strayed) but it’s great if you get it just right.  I don’t like a lot of bronzer in the winter, but a tiny dusting of this really warms up my face and stops me from blending in with the snow!

The Astronaut Wives Club – Lily Koppel

I started this right at the end of the month but I just had to share it with you all. It’s the true story of the wives behind the American Space Race, everything they went through in the 50s and 60s and the 40+ year friendships that bound these ladies together. I really started getting into books about Space exploration last year so it’s wonderful to hear about what it was like for the wives and families behind the Astronauts and what they went through. Maybe it’s because I’m a fellow female, but Im enjoying the wives side of the story a little more than the Astronauts! You can check it out here and I'll be doing a review once I'm finished!

That's it for this month! What have you all been loving in January?

Until next time,
